A LITTLE ABOUT THE SVP
The St Vincent de Paul Society (or as it is often known - the SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing practical assistance to those in need – irrespective of ideology, faith, ethnicity, age or gender.
The Society is a lay organisation initially formed in Paris in 1833 by Blessed Frédéric Ozanam and his companions, and active in England & Wales since 1844.
Placed under the Patronage of St Vincent de Paul, it is inspired by his thinking and works. It seeks, in the spirit of justice and charity, to help those who are suffering poverty in whatever form.

OUR VISION
Inspired by Christ's message to love our neighbours as ourselves, is for individuals and families who are in need to have hope together with a sense of dignity, worth, well-being and peace of mind.

OUR MISSION
To seek and find those in need, to help them in a spirit of justice and to tackle the causes of poverty where we can.

OUR VALUES
Christ centered Compassionate Respectful Generous Responsive Accountable Confidential.
We strive to achieve these values through the intercession of the Holy Spirit, through prayer, friendship, mutual support and encouragement.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
You can help us financially by
a) donations,
b) Gift Aid,
c) giving to the Baby Feeding programme in the Sudan,
d) naming the SVP in your will.
......but most of all by joining as a member.
We are very short of members, and many of the people we know are not visited as much as they need.
As members we commit ourselves to attending a meeting twice each month and visiting families, individuals living alone, or elderly and housebound people when we can.
The time that we give is AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE as our family and job permit, and the work is very rewarding.
